70kg Dick Head – Dan Pronk

Book - Average 70kg D Head

Backstory:

After attending a masterclass by the author on leadership, teamwork, resilience, self-care and decision making under stress (just to name a few) I was able to get my hands on a copy of his book. The masterclass was insightful and motivating and this book is an extension of the same.

I later had a mate who was working hard to change his life for the better, be a better role model for his kids and want to make a difference at his work that would benefit others. Realising this book might give him a boost and some guidance I contacted Dan and he was nice enough to send up a signed copy to my friend with a motivating message in it.

The personal touch was very much appreciated by both of us and my friend has already made a number of positive changes that have made not just his life but those around him better long term. This positive ripple effect is what good thoughts and good actions are about.

The book's advice: The book itself is the timeline of a man who went from a kid getting expelled from school through to dealing with the failed pursuit of a life of a professional triathlete, joining the military, becoming a doctor, passing SASR selection, serving the nation in a number of tours of Afghanistan, then progressing to co-owning a multi-million dollar business.

It’s not a big book but it’s interesting and insightful. There’s key thoughts at the end of each chapter which summarise the lessons learned be it through failure or success.

The result:

This is now a book I recommend to people who need a boost in mindset. Get refocused and on task to make a difference despite life’s challenges.

Each day I try to do a little more to improve the lives of those around me and mine as well. I’d love to make a big difference straight away...but you can only eat an elephant one bite at a time (read the book to know what I’m talking about )
