Endure - Cameron Hanes

Background -

When I was about 13 I got my first compound bow (2nd photo) Every day after school I would go on foot into the woods on our property, trek and or bow hunt by myself or with my close friend.

Often we'd pack our gear and go bow hunting with minimal supplies spurred on by that great Bear Grylls Man Vs Wild show at the time. I didn't know it then but this love for the outdoors, physical hardship and adventure would encourage both myself and my friend to join the Australian Army later in life to seek that same sense of adventure. I also sneakily skipped school just to go to the gym in preparation for it.

The book -

Cameron Hanes is a weapon of a man and hunter. Growing up in a small town he tried his hand at football and college before realising his true passion had an always would be bow hunting. Cam took an unorthodox approach to train consistently in between his adventures by conducting long distance running events and smashing the gym so that come the next hunt, he would be ready.

His relentless obsession developed him to become one of the most recognised elite bow hunters in the world but also an athlete who routinely placed on some of the world's toughest long distance running events (Even beating Lance Armstrong in his early days and apparently David Goggins more recently in a friendly run).

The man is as humble as they come and his book provides incredible wisdom for many. His views on consistency, discipline, accountability, family and belief in yourself are second to none and it's very apparent he is incredibly well read and obviously also walks the walk.

This book is a bible for the determined, dressed in a hunters jacket and camouflage. It will easily have you questioning whether or not you can put in more work, quickly followed by starting said work.

Result -

My love for the outdoors and physical training made me who I am but this book reminded me of the work ethic, commitment and sense of adventure I had as a child that allowed me to be where I am today. Cam Hanes book will definitely reignite the sense of childlike confidence in you that I and we all possess if we want something enough
